Born in Seoul, Korea, baritone KYU WON HANĀ began studying voice when he was a junior in high school, three months later winning first prize in the National Competition for Students. Recent awards and prizes include the Connecticut Opera Guild, the DiCapo Opera, and Mario Lanza competitions. A student of Ted Puffer at Manhattan School of Music, where he is enrolled in the Professional Studies program, Mr. Han has participated in various musical events at the School, including master classes with Sherrill Milnes, Dawn Upshaw and Hermann Prey. Upcoming engagements include a performance of Saint-Saens’ Christmas Oratorio with the National Chamber Orchestra, soloist in a performance of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony at The Cathedral of St. John the Divine and a performance as part of the DiCapo Opera Competition Winners Concert.
