A native of Lithuania, Kaplunas is the son of professional musicians and music teachers. He began violin instruction with his mother at age 6. He graduated from Vilnius Ciurlionis School for the Arts, won two Young Lithuanian Musicians competitions and concertized in Denmark, Holland and Germany, where he soloed with the International Chamber Orchestra of Buckow.
Kaplunas, Daniel
In the United States, he studied violin at Interlochen Arts Academy (Michigan), then the University of North Texas in Denton, where he received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in violin performance. His doctoral degree is from the University of Georgia in Athens.
